Area in the spotlight – Kings Langley

Continuing in our series of areas `in the spotlight` – this week we are taking a closer look at the Hemel Hempstead village of Kings Langley.

Just 21 miles outside of central London, lies the Hertfordshire village of Kings Langley. Two miles outside of Hemel Hempstead, it was once the location of `Kings Langley Palace` – a royal palace of the Plantaganet Kings of England. Kings Langley is understandably a very popular place to live, and particularly for those who commute to London and other centres of commerce – with the train station providing regular services.

The village has a range of amenities – a fish and chip shop, post office, and health food shop, Butchers, Opticians, Pharmacy, Chemist, and a variety of independent boutiques. Those looking for somewhere to eat, or just to stop for a coffee and piece of cake, are well catered for – there are a wide range of restaurants, pubs, takeaways, and coffee shops to choose from – making Kings Langley the ideal place to spend a few hours browsing the shops and catching up with friends.

Properties in Kings Langley range from beautiful period properties, to modern apartments, and there really is something to cater for all. Prices are slightly more expensive than nearby Boxmoor, but this is easily accounted for, by the closeness to London, and the convenience of being within the M25 corridor.

Kings Langley Secondary School and the popular Rudolph Steiner School both attract young families to the village – the combination of a range of schooling, and the easy commuting access to London, makes a great combination for those looking to move out of London, and to get a lot more for their money than they are able to find in London itself.

Sporting facilities are close at hand, with Shendish Manor Golf Course just outside the village, and Kings Langley Cricket Club and Football Club both in the village.
